Early Life and Career

Jerry West, born on May 28, 1938, in Chelyan, West Virginia, stood at an impressive 6 ft 3 in (191 m) and weighed 175 lb (79 kg). He attended East Bank High School and East Bank West Virginia College before being drafted into the NBA in 1960.

NBA Career

West played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 14 seasons, amassing an impressive array of individual achievements. He was a 14-time All-Star, 12-time All-NBA selection, and 1969 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player. In addition, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame three times: as a player in 1980, as a coach in 2010, and as an executive in 2019.

West's legendary status is also reflected in the fact that his silhouette is used as the official logo for the NBA.
